I believe Jason Becker is the best at appregiated sweep picking.

Probably in a minority here, but the speed picking is my least favorite part of his playing. It's very mechanical sounding. Especially when he's otherwise playing some of the most graceful and musical lead lines you'll ever hear.

That was an amazing solo but the one that comes to mind for me is Steve Vai " For the Love of God". Hard to choose really. So many great ones out there.

Interesting. Troy Grady has demonstrated that elbow picking is the fastest picking motion, which this appears to be despite the limited wrist view. It often results in swiping across strings, but I don't hear any of that. Just goes to show that no matter the pick angle and arm/hand motion, there's always some maniac who makes superhuman playing look easy.

Hey that’s cool. You must be familiar with Lucky Thompson on tenor with Slam Stewart, bass, playing over Rhythm changes. They take it through the cycle.

The skill, technique, and melodies these kids/people can play nowadays is absurd...but the art of riffs in rock/hard rock seems to have been lost. Metal seems to be the last place for that.

We have a similar technique in that I also do not anchor my pinky on my picking hand. Unfortunately that is where any similarity ends lol.

Yes very good but….it’s not melodic enough unlike Frank Marino who can sing and compose.Just listen to Frank’s version of “All Along The Watchtower” and so much more..Playing incredibly fast and clean is great but so what ?Where is the beautiful melody to make me cry.Musicians who want to progress need to convey incredible emotion to their audience.
